Submission Rules and Guidelines

hfa contemporary only represents artists whose work is consistent with the gallery's contemporary and aesthetic profile. Exhibiting in the gallery is by invitation only and solely at the discretion of the Director.

Invited artists can submit a comprehensive photographic (slides, JPEGs or  colour photographs) and/or a DVD/CD (PowerPoint) portfolio of current or recent work (done within the last 2 years) to the address below for consideration. The package must include at least 10 images, contact details, a full biography as well as a list of exhibitions, collections, publications, articles, reviews, website and web listings. All art forms will be considered.

N.B. Please do not send any original artwork unless requested to do so.

The more comprehensive the package received, the better we will be able to assess your eligibility for representation. Please allow at least 2 weeks from date of receipt for a reply. Portfolios must be claimed within two weeks of assessment notification from the gallery. If you wish the portfolio to be returned to you by post, you will be responsible for including a clearly marked, self-addressed and stamped envelope large enough to contain all the material to be returned. Applicants will be responsible for any and all shipping and handling costs involved in either the receiving or returning of portfolios and artwork sent to the gallery for assessment or exhibition. It is the responsibility of the artist to ensure the safe return of his or her portfolio or artwork.

Please Note: Unclaimed artwork and portfolios submitted for consideration will be kept for a maximum period of 3 months from date of assessment report-back after which they will be disposed of at the gallery Director's discretion.

See our Terms and Conditions for exhibiting.

Please Note

hfa contemporary accepts no liability whatsoever for ANY artwork or any part thereof (framing, mounting and presentation included), or for portfolios lost, damaged or otherwise destroyed either during shipment or while in the gallery's possession. Please ensure that your portfolio or artwork for exhibition is adequately packaged and insured if this is important to you. We suggest you ensure that you have full back-up copies of all images and documentation sent to us.
