"Moonglow"

.
In this 1994 work, Hodnett's approach to the traditional "still life" makes the theme itself irrelevant. The mood of the work speaks of time and space. The organic shape of the central form emanating from the bottom of the painting arrests and the allows the viewer to contemplate it's importance as the Tree of Life before being transported to the world beyond.

This painting, along with other examples of the artist's work, hangs in an important private collection in Alicedale, South Africa.
